Editorial Policy

Effective date: February 26, 2026

This policy explains how OmniCalc plans, validates, and maintains calculator content. Our editorial objective is to keep tools practical, transparent, and easy to verify.

1. Content Principles

  • Clarity first: users should understand inputs, outputs, and units immediately.
  • Formula transparency: calculations must be explainable and reproducible.
  • Practical utility: tools should solve real planning or decision workflows.
  • Continuous improvement: content is revised when standards or user needs change.

2. Calculator Build Workflow

New calculators are typically built through a structured process:

  1. Define problem scope and target use case.
  2. Select formulas and assumptions from documented references.
  3. Implement typed calculation logic with input bounds.
  4. Write explanatory content, examples, and FAQs.
  5. Perform QA with boundary and scenario testing.

3. Sources and Methodology

We prioritize official documentation, reputable standards, and well-established formulas. Our methodology details are published on the Sources & Methodology page.

4. Corrections and Updates

If a formula, label, or assumption is incorrect, we treat it as a priority correction. Material updates should be reflected in page content and last-updated signals.

Correction requests can be sent through the Contact page.

5. Independence and Conflicts

Editorial decisions are made based on user value, clarity, and accuracy. If future commercial relationships affect content presentation, we aim to disclose them clearly.

6. Scope Limitations

Calculators simplify complex real-world systems. Outputs should be treated as estimates unless explicitly tied to official frameworks. Always confirm critical results with qualified professionals or primary authority sources.
